Showing hidden files in recycler

Is there an easy way to show the files in the recycler?

 

Backupexec is telling me it cant back up a file called autorun.exe in a network share. When I browse to the e:\data\recycler\recycler there is nothing in there.

 

I'm assuming its some kind of virus file but would be nice to be able to remove it permanently.

It is definatly a virus, a horrible one at that. It does next to no damage(as far as I have been able to tell) but it changes the icon of memory keys when pluged into the infected machine. There are at least 5 different variants of this that I have seen myself. Its an Autorun file.inf and exe also may stick somehting in windows32 folder.

 

AVG can sometimes get rid Symantec Does not spot it at all.

 

It spreads like wildfire though .

in one of ur teachers folder her home folder shows she used 5Gb on space. when i checked it actually 850mb. when i examine with disk space fan it shows 4GB used by recycler in the users folder. but i could not locate the recycler folder, when i did it is empty. how can i delete this contents. thank you

Try running the conflickr/downup remover tool by symantec or boot into another os (eg: linux) and delete in that.

Have you tried enabling hidden files and show protected system files in the folder options menu. This should hopefully show you the files then.

 

It has worked for me in the past. Let me know how you get on.

Just to update this post, if you have windirstat installed, you can see it and delete it.

 

Its a virus, worth getting some better detection if you can. I know our version of symantec can't fix it.

 

The way I got rid of the virus was to make all our network shares read only on the root. That stopped it spreading immediately, then you can clean the autoruns manually.
