DerbyUTC Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 Hi All, We have an ASA 5525 CX Firewall which has been running for only 4 years. The licences that were installed have now run out and I'm trying to renew but can't because it's end of life. Licence code: ASA5525-AW1Y-PR This device cost over 10k and only lasted 4 years. Is this right? Our school only has 220 students. Any advice would help. Thanks, Dave
FN-GM Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 The 5525 isn't end of life? https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/security/asa-5525-x-adaptive-security-appliance/model.html But 10k for a firewall in a school is a massive overspend in my opinion. 1
DerbyUTC Posted March 8, 2019 Author Posted March 8, 2019 Thanks. Do you have any advice on how I can renew the licences? Our network was initially setup by a company that seemed to only have interest in their bottom line...and not our success as a school. :-(
WestCoastCumbria Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Our network was initially setup by a company that seemed to only have interest in their bottom line...and not our success as a school. :-( That's the exact position we're in at another UTC. Overly complex build, lots of money put into it then left alone to whither, everything is Cisco (quality stuff indeed) but no ongoing service contracts and I'm no Cisco expert so I can't manage half of it. We're ditching our ASA 5525 for Sophos XG UTM, much better suited for our needs.
