[ms office - o365] Office 365- Subject Access Request

Had a subject access request for a persons information- been asked to scan all emails for a mention of them.

 

Is this necessary and is this possible- if so how?

Whether or not it is necessary will depend on your local laws regarding information requests but this is totally possible to do with office 365. In the security and compliance center you can do a content search that will search all emails in your organization based on the keywords you choose. You can also select other conditions such as date, size, subject, etc.

Further to the above post there is a section particularly for these requests, bearing in mind these will take some time. Once you've gotten that information you'll (collectively) then need to redact information not pertinent to the requester. Security & Compliance > Data & Privacy > Data subject requests
