[sims] Examinations module crashing

My exams admin seems to get this problem every year, and sims support and capita seem to be absolutely no help in resolving it.

 

When she's seating summer exams she gets the pink hand error saying "Unexpected error in sims examinations organiser module" even description "Invalid variant type conversion"

 

Has anyone else encountered this and know a fix? I'm not sure what specific action it is that causes it, i need to go and take look with her, but i'll update this once i know.

We had this, and typical for the ye-olde parts of SIMS like exams module, options etc it was down to not having a default printer set (or it not liking the default printer that was there).

Yeah..try changing the default printer in Windows, log out of SIMS and back in, change default printer back and log out of SIMS and back in again.

the good old default printer issue with sims, no reason for it but changing the default printer works nearly every time

If it's not that, then the other thing to check is the regional setting are in UK format and not US format for the local user on their workstation.
