RM CC4.3 - Steinberg Cubase Elements 10 Education Edition.

Hi all,

Has anyone had the misfortune of installing and configuring Steinberg Cubase Elements 10 (Education Edition) or similar on an RM CC4 network?

Our Music department just purchased 35 x copies of Cubase 10 elements. I've had to install it manually on each workstation, as its over 17GB in size.

It seems to activate fine (using the eLicenser). But we've ran into a few problems which is making the software unusable.

The network is CC4.3 (Server 2008 R2, Windows 7 Pro SP2 64bit).

Two major issues we've encountered are:

1. When launching the software - an error message appears stating: "This Steinberg Product does not support 'Basic and High Contrast Themes' on Windows operating systems. Please use one of the 'Aero' themes that you can set in the Windows Control Panel."

Now i know the answer is to enable Aero themes....but this is CC4.

I've tried forcing aero themes via a user GPO in GPMC but it doesn't seem to do anything - presumably CC4 is stopping it with its myriad of other settings in RMMC and GPOs. The only way I can resolve this is to modify or clone the students registry policy in RMMC to enable 'personalization' for students - I really don't want to resort to this if I can avoid it, as it means students will have to manually change their theme from basic to aero when they log on.

2. Cubase takes an age to close....closing the project closes instantly, but closing the actual program seems to take anywhere between 30-60 seconds (approx). This doesn't seem right. Has anyone encountered this problem before? I heard it has something to do with redirection of the Application Data folder, which by default redirects to the students N drives. Changing this to C:\%userprofile%\Application Data does not seem to resolve the issue.

I've tried all the usual things:

1. Ran windows update

2. Updated graphics and sound drivers

3. Reset student profiles, delproffed the machines

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all

We had the high contrast issue and was resolved by updating the video drivers.

Hi,

Did you have to still change the Desktop theme?

We're using Dell Optiplex 3050s (SSF) with onboard Intel HD 950 graphics.

Thanks

We are on RM CC4.3 and are using Cubase Elements 9

1. We had the 'Basic and High Contrast Themes' with windows 7 but since upgrading the computers to Windows 10 we haven't had it. Although we do use RM Tutor and have found that if the teacher has this open and connects to a computer you can't open Cubase. So at the moment if the teachers class is using Cubase he doesn't use RM tutor which brings other issues

2. We have the same issue and have had it with every version of Cubase we have ever used. I assume its an access issue, I think the software is trying to write something to somewhere and because it can't it stops but must have a timeout period. If I use Cubase with an admin account it doesn't happen

We do get alot of issues with the elicense software. We install it and add the license but it seems to drop off alot, most of the time updating the elicense software resolves the issue but when you have to do this 30 times manually its time consuming and disruptive to the teacher
