Converting 365 distro groups to 365 groups - Salamander

Hi,

 

We presently have Salamander create loads of "Staff." "Student." & "class." security groups on our domain from SIMS, which we then mail enable and sync up to office 365. These are then used quite heavily.

 

I've been looking at school data sync and it's ability to en mass create teams based around the same setup as above, but as all our groups are "on prem" as I understand it I'd need to un-mailenable all those groups, resync and then get Salamander/School Data Sync to re-create them all on 365 as proper 365 groups.

 

I couldn't kill off the security groups from AD as naturally we use them quite heavily for various other ACLs on site - I will probably need to sync these up still (But without an email address) as some historic 365 settings will still be based upon them

 

Has anyone else done this/Does this process make sense?
