ComboSmith Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Hi, We are currently rebuilding a few old iPads, we only have 12 so we are just using apple configurator. The iPads won't update to any later than iOS 9.3.5 and apple configurator 2 seems to only download the latest versions of the apps which are incompatible. Does anybody know know where I can download old iOS apps that can be deployed with configurator 2? Thanks
Dwigt Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 Hi Combo Did you ever find a solution to this? ta
ComboSmith Posted August 21, 2019 Author Posted August 21, 2019 Hi Combo Did you ever find a solution to this? ta I'm afraid not, if the app was downloaded with an apple ID at some point in the past it will download an old version so we just did this manually for the ipads. 1

Yeah, that's what I've been doing... it's such a pita! It seems so obviously necessary that Configurator should download the latest compatible version of an app for whichever device is connected. Apple have really disappointed me with their lack of effort in this area. edit: sorry, thanks for responding
TLARWise Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 It is a bit fiddly but there is a way to trick itunes in to downloading an older version of an ipa file. I used the instructions from https://makovetsky.me/downgrade-iphoneipad-application-on-windows/ to successfully download ipas for 9.3.5 in the past which worked successfully with apple configurator 2. I last tried this over a year ago so am not sure if this still works though. 1
