How are people keeping track of what human is in what photo that's published?

Don't really want to tag the photos online, as that's more data to be stolen if website hacked.

Could wget the whole website and tag them locally I guess, although that wouldn't account for photos not currently linked but still online.

Maybe should ask 3rd party hosting for backups to copy locally to tag

Or just use a spreadsheet?

Text file kept locally with original photos, datestamped and named for each item in a gallery for all identifable persons. Any already on the site, it wouldn't harm to go back and ID them and keep a manual record locally & securely, but in case of an SAR or redaction of consent could be done on a case-by-case basis. How do you store your photos at the moment?

I would have a look at some sort of Digital Asset Management system (I know there is one that is tailored to schools although i haven't used it) to store your photos that can handle tags, and then just store extra tags on it "Used on X Website" "Used on Bequests Brochure" for example.
