keyboards Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 (edited) Hi We've got a sporadic issue where randomly you got to open a powerpoint it loads to 100% then loads to 10/12% and just freezes, never seen anything like, anyone had this or got any ideas? Office 2013/2016 Thanks Edited January 16, 2019 by keyboards
Arthur Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 (edited) Do the PowerPoints contain images that were copied and pasted from the Internet? This happened to me once and that was the cause. Do the presentations open in Google Slides or LibreOffice? Edited January 16, 2019 by Arthur 1
keyboards Posted January 16, 2019 Author Posted January 16, 2019 Seems to be happening with quite a few powerpoints. not massively particularly internet linked ones ie images etc. Odd thing is you can try to reopen the same powerpoint and it loads instantly but sometimes they just stay at 12% for ages then eventually load through. Yeah all work fine in Google slides but they don't want to use that.......
hallb15 Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 Does someone else have the file open, but the prompt is 'behind' the loading window so you can't see it to click the options to continue?
Arthur Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 (edited) Is Office fully up-to-date? I might be mis-remembering, but I think there was a bug that affected opening files. Yeah all work fine in Google slides but they don't want to use that. What I had to do was convert the PPTs to Google Slides format and then convert them back into PowerPoint format (File > Download As > Microsoft PowerPoint). The presentations then opened straight away in Office for some reason. Edited January 16, 2019 by Arthur
keyboards Posted January 16, 2019 Author Posted January 16, 2019 No, checked that, file prompts seem to load fine etc just can't put my finger on it We've got all Windows 10 updates going through and up to date, so they should be doing any office 2016 updates/fixes that way
keyboards Posted January 17, 2019 Author Posted January 17, 2019 We've had issues with these this morning
