[sims] SIMS Options

Dear All

 

Is there anyone who is presently using SIMS Options please?

 

We are in the process of setting it up and are trying to understand how users are invited.

 

Does it have to be the student that chooses their option or could it be the parent?

 

If there is anyone who I could have a chat with that would be great.

Hello @JayCFC and welcome to edugeek.

 

You can invite the students (as long as their email addresses are held within SIMS .net) but you can get parents to choose the options.

 

After you invite the parents (or students) in the SIMS Admin portal, you need to make sure that they have student or parent permissions in the SIMS options permissions part there.

 

Then within options they should be able to pick the options with their child(ren)

We don't have any schools that are using SIMS Options Online in anger but a few of our schools did trial it with a few students/staff to see how it worked.

It is the students that are invited and need to choose their options. When our schools were doing it (last academic year) there was no parental involvement option and I haven't looked at it since as neither of the schools trialing it wanted to use it for real yet as they felt there were still too many unfinished parts to the product.

We do not store student email addresses in SIMS.net and would prefer parents to pick options with their parents.

 

I will look at this when the teacher in charge returns.

It does work for us, as far as I know.
