newpersn Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 I have a user setup on Office 365 (cloud) and need to create it on prems. (local AD) (this site uses Office 365 for exchange) I have created the user onsite and matched the login name and email address. I'm now getting errors from DirSync

Identity

Error Description This object has been updated in your Azure Active Directory, but with some modified properties, because the following attributes are associated with another object [ProxyAddresses SMTP:;]. Please refer to https://aka.ms/duplicateattributeresiliency for steps on how to resolve this issue.

sourceAnchor PY/P6MEd80qa2ZUc51U4Og==

What am i missing? I've done this before without problem (this was a while ago)
HereIGoAgain2601 Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 Hi, we have this problem occasionally and have to do a hard match as described here https://www.itpromentor.com/soft-vs-hard-match/
Michael Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 It's because there's an e-mail address conflict.
newpersn Posted December 20, 2018 Author Posted December 20, 2018 It's because there's an e-mail address conflict. It’s the same account.... I want to merge them.
Michael Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 I think the only time I've seen similar issues, is if the user has O365 roles applied to them. You need to remove the roles and re-apply them thereafter.
chaplic Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 Just having the accounts look about the same will not cause it join up, the 'source anchor' is the 'primary key' and you'll see they are different. Follow the advise for hard matching that JThornton linked up. Additionally I see you have changed the UPN, after doing the above bear in mind the below guidance if you continue to get the upn changed error https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2669550/changes-aren-t-synced-by-the-azure-active-directory-sync-tool-after-yo
newpersn Posted March 15, 2019 Author Posted March 15, 2019 Relooking at this at somepoint. Is it worth creating a support ticket with microsoft to see if they can help me? Everytime i tired to solve this i'm getting some sync errors.
