Anyone use paging on site, in particular POCSAG?

 

Just curious if any larger sites still operate using this technology.

I haven’t had a pager since 1999 when I was doing on call for a large insurance company and mobile phones were in their infancy

I know very few use them but just curious for those on larger sites use them.

We have a spread out site and use radios with an aerial on the roof. It's not my area, only been involved in the software side so don't know the ins and outs, but I know the radios reach about 10 miles away! Quite a few staff have mobiles but the radios are so much more instant and integrate with other systems, like our fire panel, so can act like a pager. They also act short range without the aerial.

At this point might as well just use Push To Talk apps, or PTT over Cellular.

Yep, we do this (and here, for some reason, it is my area...) - would strongly recommend this over a pager system. You'll need an Ofcom license, which can take a couple of months to arrange. Happy to discuss over PM.
