So, we run exams here and have just been advised that VTCT exams (online web based exams) now require us to monitor ALL activity on ALL exam PCs while an exam is in progress. It is up to us to determine how we do this, but it would appear all network and PC usage needs to be monitored and sent to them after each exam.

Anyone else experiencing this? How the hack are you going to execute this?

In anticipation...…….

Surely this is up to the invigilator? How has this been spun as a "technical issue"? Is a kid drawing over an printed exam paper a "technical issue" too? Some of these exam boards/online exams amuse me no end.

Hello

we run online VTCT exams here, just had the exams manager check VTCT's instructions on how to run exams (Sep 2018) and she couldn't find anything about that. I presume you've been told by your exam person?

Hi Pink_Panda,

No the email query we sent got this reply from the Examinations Team-

I appreciate that this maybe slightly labour intensive, however this is now a requirement for all centres and as mentioned previously this would need to be provided upon request from VTCT.

In regards to software/tools to collate this information this would need to be sorted at the centre.

And the Invigilation Report has an IT log section asking you to attach an IT Log showing all activity for all machines.

Hello ShadowFax

sorry, you're absolutely right, we just found it hidden in the IT log section! There is no mention of this in the instructions whatsoever, so thanks for pointing this out. Will now have to have a think about how we do this here.

Good luck! All windows logs and proxy logs. We have NetSupport School, so wonder if restricting access to just the exam site would suffice. Next they will want a live sound recording of each exam to make sure no one speaks.

Maybe get rid of invigilators all together and have a live video feed so they can watch everything themselves ;-)
