Mac Mini 3 display

Good afternoon all,

 

Had a request come in for a 3 monitor setup on a mac mini (which technically only supports 2 monitors) from the MD - has anyone had any experiences getting a 3 monitor setup on the mac mini? A brief look into it seems like I could use USB to VGA but I feel the potential degredation of quality might be too much for him.

 

Any ideas?

Which model of Mac Mini are we talking about? A Thunderbolt dock might be your best bet, although damned expensive. Apple made a pretty big change with OS X which broke DisplayLink USB docks and by the sounds of it, the workaround they've put in place is a real kludge.

I have the same set up at home i use https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00UZXY4UY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 one of these with the displaylink driver 5.0.1https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1257 which works well. Monitor set up as follows

1 x hdmi to mac hdmi port

1 x vga to vga thuderbolt (mini displayport)

1 x hdmi to use hdmi
