Smart board Notebook software - 11.4 - will it ever die?

Strange request from a teacher today...

 

Was asked about Smartboard Notebook software and how the licensing works/suddenly having a watermark display about unlicensed software etc.

 

Also that to renew (or actually buy a licence) for the latest version is £300 per teacher....

 

Digging deeper I found out that this comes from another teacher who has heard it from another teacher (in another school).

 

Obviously, I am not going to be able to find out what version they are using or what licensing they have.

 

But I have told her that we are actually running something like 7 versions behind for exactly this reason.

 

I just need to reassure MY teacher that we will be ok to use 11.4 until the Smartboards die, nothing will change and there will be no update that suddenly renders our version of the software unusable (and we won't suddenly have to spend all of our budget on licensing interactive whiteboard software).

We still use Smart Notebook 14 and that gives all the functionality our teachers need once the 30 day trial expires. It's only £34 for a years licence though, I've told departments they need to buy with their budget though, if they need the extra functions!

 

You only see the Watermark if the computer is not connected to a Smartboard.
