Request for help Guidance Please

I am after your help and guidance please.

Next year our current internet feed is up for renewal and I have to go out to tender for a new provider So I have to prepare a "Tender" to email out

Do any of you have a document that they have used for this type of thing or some notes/guidance on how I can prepare one.

 

I am going to be asking for

 

Broadband

 

Filtering

 

Telephone system

 

 

What type of information should I provide on the document etc

 

Your wisdom and advice would be most gratefully received (I will even put a good word in for you with Santa)

Don't have any documents, but I did talk to a lot of people recently about fiber and telephones. Everyone who's not a phone company probably just resells a hosted whitebox solution, pay per month per handset, which is fine if you don't want to manage it, but not that flexible or cost effective.

 

Only people who wanted to actually design a phone system for me were Southern Communications.

 

Because we're on 2 sites I wanted filtering at ISP level (everyone who sold a filtering box said we can totally make it work with just 1 filtering subscription, and then didn't), so picked Exa. Other option was Schools Broadband.

 

Exa have been ok so far, their website catagorisation could be better, and a few times the filter pops up an error, but nothing major.

 

Doing the phones myself with FreePBX and Gamma trunks

I'd only go with Exa if you're happy explaining to management why your school has no/intermittent every few weeks.

The line's been fine, Surfprotect is sometimes slow, but usually fine.

we have a template document with some guidance for purchasing the services you've mentioned as well as some previous tender docs that we can sanitise for you to use as a template. If you PM me your email address, I can send them over.
