[sims] Filtering rows in SIMS not outputting as expected

I am having a bit of a hellish time trying to do what I thought would be a simple report. I am trying to get a list of all students in the school and what class they are in for a specific subject (i.e. only show their maths class code for uploading to mathswatch, or mfl class code for MFLs own equiv software).

In the filter, I thought I could just go down to classes and choose the option of filtering on subject code, but it outputs students who have classes that match the filter, as well as all their other subjects too.

 

The filter doesn't seem to let me restrict the output to just a particular subject, but rather works like a "show all students and all their classes, if they are in a matching class".

I want it to be like: "show all students and only output the class row if it matches the filter".

 

It seems there isn't an option for this, but there surely must be! Am I missing something obvious? Maybe there is a different way I need to run a report for getting all students and their desired classes?

Is the class a sub-report?

 

If it is then there's an option within the sub-report for show "rows with no such result" or something similar...

It's within the main student report category, as I need to do a user import per student, with their class being an additional column needed in the csv, rather than doing it through the classes report which would not be appropriate for the user csv import.

I just built one in about 20 seconds that does the trick.

 

Student Focus - add the class sub report to it and edit the sub report filter to "include records with no such member" - untick this!

That's superb, thanks! I had never actually noticed, or been aware of the ability to click the sub-report and filter separately within there (I always just filtered within the main filter options). Clearly this is where I have gone wrong and now it's outputting as expected!
