Uber22 Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 Hey everyone i have just joined today and was looking for you input, i have currently building a new windows 10 image, wanted to see if anyone had any tip and tweeks for making a good image. i was also looks to disable access to the c: drive for students, i use sophos for restricting stuff like the store, powershell, cmd. any input would be great. some of the programs we already use Chrome office 2016 pro python adobe reader
LeMarchand Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 Not sure about Python, but the other 3 can be installed via GPO. If they're your main concerns I'd be tempted not to use an "image" and just push out the .wim. Then you can just swap in a new wim when you want to update to a new version. If you have access to SCCM I believe it will make your life easier. I don't, so can't help you there, but there will likely be plenty of knowledgeable folk here in the morning. Welcome to the forum, btw.
Uber22 Posted November 15, 2018 Author Posted November 15, 2018 Hi yes we have windows servers (2016) standard
synaesthesia Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 Don't faff with all-inc images like that, push it out as a brand new install and use MDT/SCCM/PDQ Deploy etc to push out software as needed.
ADMaster Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 Welcome to the forum; Everything you ask has been discussed quite a lot, have you tried searching yet. Many of the windows 10 version release threads contain info to tweaking that release. There have been several GPO threads. As said above, I take the thin image approach too, push a basic win and deploy / tweak everything during OSD. Here is a couple resources to get you started. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/windows-10-poc-mdt https://garytown.com/windows-10-customizations-during-osd
