Sibelius Licence server help!!

We have installed Sibelius on our iMacs in our music suite. The licence server is installed on our mac mini which we use to run the mac's using os server.

After setting up the Licence server to our mac minis's ip address the imacs just don't see the the licence server.

From what I am reading online its a nightmare to setup. So we have decided to deactivate the licence server and activate Sibelius on each machine.

Problem is we can't deactivate the licence server to use our multi seat licence!

We keep getting the message Failed Deactivation: The activation server could not be reached

Any ideas?

The license server will be talking to Avid in order to activate/deactivate. I recall many moons ago having to punch rules in the firewall to allow Sibelius to talk to Avid. Checked any IP/web addresses that need authorising in the firewall?

I will try this, we have a palo alto firewall and there is a possibility its blocking this.

As much as I complain about Avid being the worst company for licensing (mainly Media Composer) I've always found Sibelius to be the easiest to setup.

 

Is your Mac Mini on the same VLAN/subnet as your lab?

Do you have Avid License Manager Installed and Sibelius is activated with it's seats?

I hadn't thought about that, will try that tomorrow.

We have been busy putting new iMacs in the suite today.

If not on the same VLAN you will then need to open it up on the port so the two VLAN's can talk. We run each lab on it's own dedicated VLAN and the server sits on a port that been configured to allow traffic to the others. This way when we launch the program and it asks for the server it will see it.

Thank you for all the help, it turned out that there was a problem with the Licence.

Avid fixed this and Sibelius now works , so a happy head of Music.
