fiza Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 The Smart Storage Battery on our HP DL380 Gen9 server died. I purchased another and installed it but this is also coming up as failed. Is there somewhere in the management software I need to enable the battery or something? Could it be another issue?
3s-gtech Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 IME, no you shouldn't need to reset it, especially if you didn't hot swap it. The BBWC may have switched off, but that shouldn't report it as failed. 1

3s-gtech Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 Possible, as it may have sat flat for a good while. Otherwise, could be a faulty controller but that seems unlikely as it'd probably show other issues.
jtotheb Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 Had one fail the other day on a DL380 G9. "Smart Storage Battery failure" in the Integrated Management Log and storage showing as degraded. Battery was replaced with the system cold which removed the battery failure and cleared the storage degradation errors. Green ticks back on system health. Nothing was manually reset, just the part swapped.

The management software shows up the issue as 'minor' so hopefully the server will not develop any other faults.
googlemad Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Does anyone know the best place to source one of these batteries? Got a HP DL380 Gen9 reporting Smart Storage Battery failure (Battery 1, service information: 0x0A) and surprise surprise the warranty expired in January! Had a look on eBay and there seemed to be a number of varying part numbers too, I can't power off the server at the moment and have a look sadly!
3s-gtech Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Does the Smart Storage manager give you the battery model?
