jimmy_2k Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 Hi all, I've tried to find a similar thread on here as i'm sure i'm not the only one with this issue. I have Server 2016 R2. I have been trying to update Windows so I can update SCCM. I have expanded the C Drive and each time I try and run any Windows update now I get a message that any updates have failed to install. I have run the Windows update troubleshooter and all issues are resolved apart from Potential Windows update database error detected. The troubleshooter can't resolve this issue. I've seen various stuff online but I wondered if someone can please point me in the right direction Thanks
jimmy_2k Posted October 31, 2018 Author Posted October 31, 2018 I can install KB4462928 Cumulative update for Windows server 2016 but it rolls back after install saying we could not complete the updates, undoing changes
smarties11 Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 Have you got the latest servicing stack installed? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/update/servicing-stack-updates
jimmy_2k Posted November 1, 2018 Author Posted November 1, 2018 Thanks. I've managed to crack it. I had to rebuild the update database by stopping the update service and trashing the database so it recreated itself. Sorry that I've not got the webpage link to hand otherwise i'd post it for others.
