Mouse becomes unresponsive when computer falls to sleep???

Hi all; not sure if this should really be in the 'hardware' section, but I'm wondering if you can help me anyway!

 

Within the school i work in; there is an issue that has been bothering us for somewhat of 6 months now. This issue occurs when the managed windows 7 all in on pc falls to sleep, then when waking the device, the USB mouse attached becomes unresponsive???? I work in a high school; and I'm getting a lot of flak from the ICT teachers that have these issues. The only way to 'temporarily' fix the issue is by removing the USB mouse, and plugging it back in. Cliche I know!

I've tried going through GP to see if there is anything in there that would cause this, and I cant see anything out of the norm?!

 

If you have any theories, I'd happily try them!

We see the same issue, with slight differences. Both the keyboard and mouse are unresponsive and usually, the screen is blank. Behind the blank screen, the station is locked.

 

I haven't found a fix but to avoid a reboot I can usually connect via Impero and switch user at the lock screen. At this point, the computer 'wakes up' at the client end and allows them to login and continue where they left off.

We’ve had this before it’s due to the power settings. In the power settings in control panel somewhere in the advanced section there is something about usb sleep and you need to turn it off. I’ll send a screenshot of the setting when I get to work tomorrow if you can’t find it beforehand.

It isn't power setting in our case. All power settings set to maximum (power saving modes etc) sleep disabled, hibernation disabled but it still happens. It does not seem to have a pattern as to when it will cut in, which makes it all the more difficult to deal with.

It seems as if the option to 'allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'. So now I'm at a bit of dead end! Any other suggestions?

The two machines that we have that do this (there may be more, but not reported) Are both Dells, Optiplex 9020, small form factor (I think)

 

I updated all drivers that I could from the Dell website and updated the BIOS (the BIOS that was current was from a few years ago)

 

These changes haven't prevented the problem from coming back, but the frequency of the calls has certainly dropped away (user tolerance and dealing by restarting? Perhaps)

Ah not sure then sorry! it’s always been the usb selective suspend setting for us.
