Paid_Peanuts Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 All, I have just been asked if we can disable the send and receive of emails (O365) between certain times of day (7pm - 6am) and at weekends? This would be for internal emails and external emails for all staff. This is to promote staff well being and for them not to feel obliged to respond to emails received during these unsociable times. I know you can use the "Work Offline" within Outlook but most users have their mail setup on their phones. Also the majority of our staff use the web access. Is this possible with O365? If so does anyone on here do such a thing and if so how is it going?
synaesthesia Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 No. This has been discussed time and time again, and no. It's possible yes, in nearly all systems and certainly with 365 but there are more reasons to not do it. Staff wellbeing? Simple... training, policy. Reasons not to? Health & safety. Urgent issues that may not be communicatable by other means. "Quiet" communication. Make it clear that by policy it should only be for certain purposes. Plus, some people want to go home, spend time with their kids, do eveningy things and then spend an hour doing odds and sods for work before going bed at 11pm. It isn't practical or wise.

You don’t have to tell me the reasons why... For all those reasons you’ve stated I have suggested it isn’t implemented. However, that being said I’d still rather familiarise myself with the process, in case it is forced upon me.
Boredguy Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 Simple answer is it's not really possible and comes down to the end user to regulate themselves. You could create a script to disable access out of hours, but that would not stop e-mails being delivered by third parties to their mailbox. It could also impact accessing OneDrive or Office at home (if your staff make use of the option to install Office 365 on their home devices)
sted Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 if you sync accounts from ad to azure do account logon hours follow across?
synaesthesia Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 Logon hours can be set to sync in the sync tool so I expect that would be the case. Regardless, should be a policy or guideline as opposed to a hard limit.
Arthur Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 This is to promote staff well being and for them not to feel obliged to respond to emails received during these unsociable times. Couldn't you find out who the worst offenders are for sending e-mails outside work hours and get someone to speak with them?
