talksr Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 Hi there, I am struggling to find one so wonder if they exist yet? I have a dual monitor display. It takes two outputs from an HP desktop and they go into two Dell monitors. I would like to also link my Microsoft Surface to these screens via the docking station. The docking station will provide one display port output. My question is, is there a KVM product that would take up to two display port outputs x 2 (so you could have two dual screen devices) but can also take two USB inputs and split them also? Otherwise, I am going to need two sets of keyboards and mouse which is silly. Hopefully you can understand what I mean!
Andrew_C Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 This will do your USB switching. You might have to use the monitors built in switch to choose between DP & VGA. 1

Don't think I can, as I have a mac mini coming off of the right hand one. It is complicated! Use the Mac Mini only for photo editing, so it is not used as much, but need it and it doesn't have its own monitor like most Apple stuff!
DalekSec Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 If a KVM doesn't exist for what you want it to, what about this? https://symless.com/synergy I use it at home between my MBP and Desktop works flawlessly 1
Norphy Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 A dual port KVM switch with USB and DisplayPort? https://www.belkin.com/uk/p/P-F1DN104W-3/ Does that one fit the bill? Knowing Belkin it won't be cheap but their KVM switches are generally very good. 1

Norphy Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 Upwards of £800!!! Be easier to buy a Mac and bootcamp it! OK, so that's a special kind of insane just there. I didn't realise it'd be that much! 1
Norphy Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 (edited) https://www.startech.com/uk/Server-Management/KVM-Switches/2-port-dual-dp-kvm-switch~SV231DPDDUA2 That one is cheaper but still insanely expensive. It looks like DisplayPort KVMs are just generally expensive... Does it have to be DisplayPort? Can you not use DisplayPort to DVI dongles to your devices? Dual-head DVI KVMs would be somewhat less expensive. https://www.startech.com/uk/Server-Management/KVM-Switches/dual-monitor-dvi-kvm-switch-4-port~SV431DD2DU3A Twice the ports for 1/4 the cost. Arthur Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 is there a KVM product that would take up to two display port outputs x 2 (so you could have two dual screen devices) but can also take two USB inputs and split them also? It is sold out at the moment, but this is probably what you're looking for... https://store.level1techs.com/products/kvm-switch-dual-monitor-model This KVM even supports high-end RGB gaming keyboards! talksr Posted October 11, 2018 Author Posted October 11, 2018 Blimey, the Belkin one was so expensive, yet it took display port in and then does HDMI out! Where is the logic there?! I think I may need to go for something non-display port based as you suggest as those sorts of prices are just mad! Thanks for your suggestions. Really helpful.
