TPLINK AR1750 - convert to simple wifi point

Hi all

daft question as I've done this loads of times on different wifi points but this one is giving be problems.

Basically I have been asked by a local charity to get it working as a simple access point on their network -

pick up IP address from their DHCP

connect wifi devices to their network via normal WPS - should be simple

operate with no WLAN connection in theback of it (which seems to be the problem

 

but

 

anyway - I have managed to switch off the DHCP server

then I need to restart it but it doesn't seem to want to pick up an IP address from my network (I have it at home at the moment to save messing up the charity)

 

has anyone else had problems with these - or similar ones?

p.s. I am also being hampered as I am having problems clearing out the IP cachs on the windows 10 laptop I am using - I am using advanced Ip Scanner and it seems to keep having all my IP devices on my system - even though it is only connected to the TPLINK thing - how can I clear the cache

I have tried ipconfig/flushdns - reboor - hard reboot etc

any other ideas??

So you want to plug this router into another router and have them both work as APs for the same WLAN?

Basically they want it set up to plug into a network port in their office so they can use it to get their wifi devices onto the network easily

 

the network port will be cabled into a normal network switch on the main network

It's the only port where your router will be looking for a DHCP address.

 

The quick setup has dynamic IP as one of the options, I'd go for that over the auto detect.

You'll need to set the IP of the access point manually, disable the DHCP server, and connect one of the LAN ports to the switch on the main network.
