Windows 10 Update Problems

Can't quite get my head around this. I am finding that quite a few of our Windows 10 systems are displaying the following Windows Update icon in the task bar:

 

If I visit, Windows Update, I see the following...

 

If I 'Check for Updates', nothing is found.

The systems all run from our WSUS server. I have checked the WSUS server and 'Needed' updates are clear at the moment, but I see that once again, our 1tb drive for WSUS downloads has just 5.75mb of space left, despite weekly 'Server Clean Up Wizard' jobs through WSUS.

 

Does anyone have any ideas on this?

 

The systems in question are running Windows 10 Education 1803 so seem pretty up to date.

What update types is your WSUS server set to download? If you have an automatic approval rule check that and make sure it is approving all the correct security updates.

If your devices can 'see' Windows Update online, they'll display this message. That can be turned off via GPO - this stops un-approved updates finding their way onto your systems, but also stops things like automatic driver installs. This may be your issue, not totally sure. The WSUS sever filling up won't be fixed with the Cleanup Wizard - I've found nothing but the AdamJ cleanup script works, but this isn't free now https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/1980395-adamj-clean-wsus

at a guess it dosent think its got the latest cumulative update and ive found at 1 site wsus dosent seem to want to download them automatically and i have to manually add them every month

Critical Updates, Definition Updates, Drivers, Security Updates, Service Packs, Tools, Update Rollups, Updates, Upgrades

Had never heard of this, but looks like such a useful tool. Works out at $60 per year. I have contacted him to see if there is any way he can offer this in GBP as I would be interested in buying it for the school. Like PDQ, it is all in dollars, and I am not able to purchase in USD. It has to be GBP!

I think you might be right. I downloaded the cumulative update for 1803 manually, and this seems to have done the job, but how can I add this to WSUS manually, so all of my 1803 clients pick it up?

1st on teh server set ie as your default browser. then open up wsus somnewhere on teh updates page is a link to get updates into wsus (sorry its currently cleaning up here and taking ages so i cant check) and it goes to a specific website that allows you to add updates to wsus (it needs ie or it dosent work iirc)
