Projector Control - Wall Control

Can anyone recommend a wall mounted panel to control projectors (we have Epson EB-xxxx models) we are having the remote controls constantly stolen from the IT rooms.

Hook on the wall with a lockable cable going into the remote's lanyard loop?

they dont have a loop, we have in the past superglued a plate with a metal cable, it works OK but not the best really. I was thinking of a box on the wall..

The EB series remotes all have a loop on the bottom (have one right in front of me). Could be a lot of expenditure for the sake of remotes which aren't in reality that expensive.

Christ; by the time you've bought one of those for each classroom you might as well start looking at just replacing the projectors with LCD displays; obviously more expensive but at least you'd not be piddling money away.

The vision techconnect ones work quite well, but are still quite expensive. You could get a lot of epson remotes for that price. Maybe enough to give everyone there own remote.

Am I right in saying you can control epsons over the network ? I'm sure they have a network port

I dont know if you can actually turn them on, freeze them etc via the network....will have to look.

RS232 is the way to go. We use Extron panels but there are loads out there to choose from - they start quite cheap. If I find a cheap one I'll post it here!

Cheap style wall plates available here - sure you could ask for the blank feature to freeze instead? (Freeze is available via RS232)

 

Note - I'm not recommending them as I've never used them, just saying they're available. I truly believe you buy cheap you buy thrice in this world!

We use(d) the Epson ones, ironically just got rid of all of mine, also as noted the network app is pretty good too
