To those schools that have ticketing systems, how do you prevent ticket system spawl?

We currently have 4 spiceworks instances, all on different VMs, each one providing a dept with their own job logging.

I've been asked to possibly setup a 5th ticketing system for our..... general admin team so they can monitor work load.

Is this going a bit too far with ticket systems? I can see why they'd want one but really?? General admin??

We have three instances of Hesk - IT, Estates (aka care takers) and Performing Arts. We also have another help desk which admissions users and yet another for resources. It isn't a problem - each department administer the appropriate one. The only problem we get is people log Estates tickets (eg my window is stuck) on our help desk. We point them to the correct system.

No sprawl here as we use a system that can be divided between teams. Not free though. It's been a while since I used Spiceworks but can it not be divided between teams? Or is it because of access you want different systems? Maybe something like GLPI might be worth looking at?

I have one installation of Spiceworks set up and is being used by 4 different departments. It send the tickets to the department depending on what email address the ticket is sent to.
