I have a SIMS marksheet that uses two fields I need to bring to a Report sheet that is on Word document.

One of these fields on the marksheet is has a coloured background which appears thge same colour on the Word document ..as I want it to. and in doing so this colour eg Yellow overwrites the greay background that is on the report sheet.. just as I want it to.

My issue is that the other field has no colour so when the grade is brought across to the marksheet, it is putting that grade onto the grey colour.

What I want to happen is for this grade to "white out" the grey.

I am not sure how to go about this.... I would imagine there must be a way to do this and I also think that if the marksheet grade had a white background associated with it that it would work the same as the coloured cells that are transferring as I want them to in the other cells.

Hoping I might get some advice on this

Thank you both for the replies.

The grade that is coloured on the marksheet is generated by comparing a numerical entered value with grade boundaries which must then be compared with the target grade to create the colour on the marksheet. This grade and associated colour then appear on the report card.

The grade I am having a problem with is the target grade which is a straight entry on the marksheet of a grade. It has not background colour.

I am attempting to get this to appear with a white background when it is picked up by the report card.

I thought that the suggestion that white could not be used might have helped - so I changed the colour to another alternative on the marksheet by right clicking and selecting set colour for cell.

But the colour still does not copy across.

I realise that it is probably something to do with formula but I am not sure how to set this or if it is even possible.

I am hoping to get a few pointers.

I was hoping that if I could see the way the green red and yellows are generated ( I imagine with some sort of If and then statements) that I might work through it but I can't seem to find how to access these formula either.

I think I get the gist of this. I have had a play around with it and I think I am closer to getting what I want. I was able to find the formula with the colours in the template.

I think I am going off track at the If 1=1 then1.

I'll take another look as soon as I can.

Thanks.

I was thinking about this on the drive home from work and I think I've got the idea of it now.

Probably be Monday before I can try it out.

Just wondering if I would have to reassign the aspect to the report after the aspect is updated on the marksheet or shoukd it automatically react to the change...

Thanks E. Your help has been invaluable. I have it working exactly as I needed it to now.

I set the colour to 254, 254, 254 and used the nested if then loop as you explained.

This setup will save me considerable time.
