Disable Speakers - Keep Audi jack enabled

Hi,

 

Does anyone have any idea if it is possible to disable inbuilt PC speakers but keep the audio jack enabled?

 

We have a request from one of our libraries to do this, we would prefer to do this by policy, regedit or script.

On many models, you can disable the onboard speaker in the BIOS or UEFI (HP and Lenovo confirmed). You can usually also pull the speaker connector off the motherboard to achieve the same result.

We had considered this but we want to push this out to multiple sites and it wouldn't be feasible to do it this way. Especially if they then decide they want sound back again.
