robk Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 We have a brand new Inventry system installed over the summer holiday, which should be writing back marks to Facility. This is not happening, but I can't work out why. Could anyone who is using this combination let me know what changes are needed to get this working? I suspect I have missed a setting in eportal.
6Foot2 Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 We have Bromcom (hosted offsite) and Inventry. When Inventry was installed we saw a similar issue. When we asked about it we were told that we needed a write back licence. Further investigations revealed that the required licence had already been purchased with the system and what was required was a change in the settings of Inventry. Inventry engineers connected to our system to make the change.

During the holiday it was a bit difficult to test write back, so not sure where the problem lies.

During the holiday it was a bit difficult to test write back, so not sure where the problem lies. We have found Inventry to be helpful. We have also found that you have to know what it is you are asking for. Difficult when the system has been thrown at you with little notice. However, when presented with a request the helpdesk staff have been able to make the changes as requested. My technician has found a new devotion for Inventry Chat.
robk Posted September 14, 2018 Author Posted September 14, 2018 I have had a ticket open with inventry all week for this one. Though timing could be better as they are really busy.
robk Posted September 19, 2018 Author Posted September 19, 2018 Starting to wonder if InvEntry can actually write back to Facility... After several remote sessions from InvEntry support we still do not seem to be any further forward. Could anyone who has this working please get in touch? I suspect it could be our eportal install, rather than InvEntry.
TJ-Diggers Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 You need to re-add the InVentry IP address to the API.xml again. When you do the ePortal upgrades it overwrites the file each time. From memory you need to go ePortal/Conf/Catalina/then there is API.xml. Let me know how you get on, if your still struggling I can send exact details when at work

TJ-Diggers Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 Was the IP address already in the xml or did you have to Readd it? If you had to readd it did you restart the FACILITY services?

djrscally Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 Sorry if this is a dumb question; when we tried to get Inventry writeback working we discovered it only worked on their full totem thingies and not the mini card readers. You're definitely trying on the main totem rather than the mini ones?

We have two standard screens that we are trying to use. One question I have been asked is what our apireference is, but advanced don't know and InVentry don't know what the field does it seems.
TJ-Diggers Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 (edited) open IE on your eportal and paste the below to test a write back. Change **** to a student id Date is set to Monday afternoon (24/9/18) so check the PM mark. Should be a late mark. (You can change the L mark on the end if you want to test with something else) "https://127.0.0.1:8443/API/services/WriteBack/changeRollCall?date=2018-09-24T14:00:00&studentKey=2018/2019|****&attCategoryKey=L" if this does not work then something has changed on ePortal which is why you cant write back.
