Microsoft Edge preferences not retained

Has anyone rolled out windows 10 with Microsoft Edge on a network with redirected app data and roaming profiles.

If so has anyone figured out how to get Edge preferences to roam or redirect? Most settings appear to be stored in Local app data which we delete on log off to stop other problems and obviously being a school users use all sorts of different computers anyway. I can't find much on the internet other than the fact that it stores them locally and doesn't redirect or roam. Are people just not using edge in this scenario, don't care about the preferences, or i'm missing something simple that everyone's done to fix it and isn't worth posting online? I get the impression it's like this for all windows apps.

Favourites are fine as they sync with IE but anything like the zoom settings or adding the favourites bar get lost at each logon.

Any help appreciated.

Roaming profiles are increasingly unsupported for modern Microsoft software. AppData folder redirection is also nolonger well tested and actually detrimental to modern device behaviour (i.e. wireless devices)

Edge settings roaming works best as part of Enterprise State Roaming. This is a bit of a black box technology, you sort of switch it on, and it works. Mostly. There isn't really coherent documentation, but there is a fair bit of it:

Indeed, it may also be worth looking at UE-V (pretty much the same thing although I've yet to check out ESR myself). UEV is very well documented and should be first port of call for windows 10 machines. Just seems to work.

Can UE-V only roam Edge settings when you have ESR?

Like you say, Microsoft's documentation is a bit confusing.:)

We use Chrome which has its own method for roaming settings.

AppData folder redirection is also no longer

I'm surprised people still redirect AppData. I stopped doing that when my school switched from RM CC3 to (vanilla) Windows 7 many years ago now. Along with roaming profiles it was nothing but trouble.
