Afternoon guys,

Bit of a Friday conundrum for you all to have a think about.

We seem to be having a quirky issue with printers on our Windows 10 network disappearing and I think I know why, but I've no idea how to solve it.

We deploy printers using GPO with item level targeting:

printer gpo issue 1.PNG

Within the item level targeting I have it to delete the printer when PC the user logs into is not in the in the right OU/location. This is where the complexity kicks in a little more... so: Mr B logs into a classroom without logging out of their office machine. The classroom doesn't have Mr B's office printer installed (obviously correct). Mr B then returns back to his office to find that his office printer has uninstalled itself from his office PC. A gpupdate pulls the printer back.

I'm guessing that the group policy is refreshing itself and seeing the last place he logged into and removing the printer? (That's what I'm guessing anyway)

Have we overthought the printer deployment process? Is there a more stable way to deploy printers to classrooms without having them sticky and following staff around like lap dogs?
