Correct. The accounts being backed up to also have 2FA enabled on them so you need a physical U2F key to login to them through a web browser.

They'd be in breach of their contract with you if they started accessing data in your Veeam backups. Yes you can encrypt the Veeam backup itself but that does mean quite a performance hit.

Have you had any issues with throughput? Just recently tested CloudBerry for moving our Veeam backups to AWS Glacier and it gave an ETA of a week :\

 

The full backup is around 4TB (largest single file is 3.3TB) and it was averaging sub 1Mbps on a 100Mbps dedicated fibre which had next to no traffic due to it being summer.

 

I went through all CloudBerry's suggestions, white listed the various .exes, made sure the thread count and memory usage were at default, checked server load was low, ran a speed test on the line, etc. They suggested it could be AWS throttling things at their end but I can't imagine Amazon limiting uploads to sub 1Mbps.

Performance seems ok-ish to Google Drive - we have a gig symmetrical fibre link and it seems to run at between 300 & 400mb/s - it takes the best part of a week to upload and I only upload each weekly synthetic from Veeam not any of the daily backups.

 

Our full backup is around 7.5Tb but it's split into individual files per VM by Veeam.
