SavedZelda Posted August 17, 2018 Posted August 17, 2018 (edited) Hi all, Having a slight problem with Office 2016 off of the network (My users are running Windows 10 1806 and have local profiles with folder redirection enabled) If we take Word for example, when connected to the domain it runs fantastically. When the user takes their laptop home and opens up word, the program stalls and crashes 9 times out of 10. Is it something to do with AppData? I'm a little lost on this and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! EDIT: IF (by some margin of luck) Word does run, the users also can't save their work with Word citing 'Word has insufficient memory. Do you want to save Document1 as Rescued document?' Steve21 Posted August 17, 2018 Posted August 17, 2018 Do you redirect their desktops? (without using Offline Files to Cache its location)? There's a check when Office opens to look for their desktop location to use a location and if it can't fit it it'll wobble and normally give those errors. Steve 1
SavedZelda Posted August 23, 2018 Author Posted August 23, 2018 Hi Steve, Thanks for your advice. I do redirect desktops, I initially had disabled offline files. After some playing around I've had to cave in and enable offline files and now Office works perfectly.
northeast_technician Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 is this the same issue, when a user tries to open an existing word document it either crashes or asks to open in safe mode though a new word document opens fine?
SavedZelda Posted September 10, 2018 Author Posted September 10, 2018 is this the same issue, when a user tries to open an existing word document it either crashes or asks to open in safe mode though a new word document opens fine? Potentially, I've seen many different issues offline - this does sound familiar though... try enabling offline files and see if the problem still exists.
northeast_technician Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Tried that didn’t make any difference
