Non work related - ASUS cable router question

Morning all,

 

Quick home related question. Does anyone have an Asus router at home? I understand that these devices come up quite often in recommendations for having great built in family filtering, but was wondering before going out and shelling £130 on one, if there is an option to use mac address filtering via time scheduling? I am more interested in curbing the use of gaming consoles in the house rather than just URL filtering etc. Ever since virgin swapped my V2 hub for a V3, there seems to be a lot less functionality under the bonnet and I cannot access my WD Mycloud drives so I am going to just put the hub into modem only mode and hook up a decent router instead.

I can't remember off the top of my head if it is available in the default UI.

 

But with the Asuswrt-Merlin firmware (https://asuswrt.lostrealm.ca/) you can create a cron job (https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/how-to-add-cron-job-on-asuswrt-merlin-wifi-router/) to tweak the firewall with iptables as required.

They have a demo UI available here ASUS Wireless Router RT-AC5300 - Network Map. There's an option for limiting using the firewall, or on each device you can set a Time Schedule in the Clients section. When I get home I can have a proper look.
