Smoothwall arch type

Hi everyone,

 

This may seem like a stupid question but we have smoothwall leeds-4 update running on quite an old HP server. I didn't install it. It has 16gb of RAM but doesn't ever seem to utilise more than 4gb even when it is getting hammered so it got me thinking does smoothwall come in 32 and 64 bit OS versions like windows or not? if so how can I check what we are running?

Probably the easiest way would be to log onto its console via SSH (non-standard port 222) and type in the following command:

 

uname -a

 

You'll see the kernel that the OS is using. In my case:

 

Linux hap-sm-001.hahc.internal 3.16.0-4sw-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.16.43-2+spv10+smoothwall4 (2017-06-23) x86_64 GNU/Linux

 

I'm pretty sure Smoothwall has required x64 CPUs since at least v66 so if you're running Leeds, you ought to be on a 64 bit platform.

Thank you and yes you are right it is 64 bit.

It has been 64 bit for quite a few years now and Leeds-4 is the current version.

 

It would be unusual for a Smoothwall to need more than a few GB of memory even under heavy load.
