Help needed to Freeze second monitor connected to SMART board/ Projector

Hi All,

 

I just want some advise for a current set up I have in a class room. The set up we have is a powered splitter used for a projector connecting to the smart board. We then have another VGA in the powered splitter for a monitor we have installed because visibility is poor at the back of the classroom.

 

We want our second monitor to freeze when the projector is froze, do you have any tips on doing this? We have tried to daisy chain from the projector but unfortunately this did not work.

 

Would anyone have any ideas on what I can do as staff cannot use the machines when they have stuff open on the board.

Just so I can understand what your setup is:

You have a PC with dual monitor outputs let's call them 1 and 2.

1 goes to the teacher's screen.

2 goes to a VGA splitter box with outputs A and B.

A goes to your projector.

B goes to a secondary display at the back of the room.

And you want to be able to freeze both outputs 2A and 2B while the teacher continues to use the screen on output 1?

 

If this is the case a software solution would probably work best. We've got a little homebrewed app that does this by switching the display to from mirrored to extended and throwing up a screenshot onto the secondary display.

But after a few weeks of testing the teachers decided it was easier and more reliable to just switch between extended and mirrored as required.

 

I think going extended might be the best solution here. You could give them shortcuts to "displayswitch.exe /clone" and "displayswitch.exe /extend" to make it even easier for them.
