FN-GM Posted July 11, 2018 Posted July 11, 2018 Hello, Can someone remind me where you get the free AutoDesk licences for education please? I can only find where you can get 2 free for a home computer and not bulk education licences. Thanks
fiza Posted July 11, 2018 Posted July 11, 2018 Is this what you mean? https://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/featured 1
FN-GM Posted July 11, 2018 Author Posted July 11, 2018 Thanks. I now have a code but how do I get the licence file for the licence server please?
FN-GM Posted July 11, 2018 Author Posted July 11, 2018 Got it. - https://registeronce.autodesk.com The host ID is the Mac Address of the server.
ADMaster Posted July 11, 2018 Posted July 11, 2018 I've had to use IE to get these. Chrome / FF just did not persent the network license option.
Primus Posted July 11, 2018 Posted July 11, 2018 Just as a heads up - since AutoDesk use the MAC address of the server we found sometimes Hyper-V can change the MAC unless you set it to a static instead of dynamic. Then this breaks your activation server.
Cw2k Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 Network deploy with server is useful for poor internet connectivity as you run one or more network license servers internally. You add the config generated by the register once site to the license server. Network deploy without server uses Autodesks cloud license server but you still need to register the product key with registeronce. This will generate a token. If mass deploying using this method you need to install the Autodesk product on a pc then activate it using either online registration of offline using the token. Once done it will auto activate of the other installs when they start. This method requires a reliable internet connection as it queries the Autodesk cloud license sever each time the app opens and so fails to start if internet is down. When generating the free licenses for multiple apps the site sometimes gets confused and starts issuing individual licenses, just log out the site and back in to generate the network licenses. The deployment packages let you configure the key and other settings. The Autodesk apps can be picky with mandatory profiles, workarounds exist but these seem less reliable with newer versions.
chazzy2501 Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 The Autodesk licence server also binds itself to the HDD serial number (making backups useless) if a teacher needs to use a copy from home (without a remote connection) then they can "borrow a license" from the server. 6 months at a time

ADMaster Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 I last used the license server for inventor 2015. I use the internet activation method now.
