Hi,

I was wandering if anyone in the forum could point me in the right direction please. We have just added another school into our group of schools which have Apple Macs installed. We have been asked by a department of Art to upgrade the OS on these Macs. When we come to do the upgrade it asks for an Apple user Id & password of a user which left the school about 6 years ago. So I re-created her account school and e-mail address and asked for a password reset from Apple.

Apple says the account is not recognised. So I thought with it not being used for so long the account has been deleted at apple. However when I go to recreate the apple account it says you cannot use the mail address to register the account. So currently I am going around in circles. Could some one point me in the right direction in getting this sorted out so I can add the OS update to the machine please.

Thanks

Hi If you can prove that he school own the computers _ invoices is what they want they can unlock the device. To be fair I have not done it on a Mac only on iPads. not always the most clear pathway as you have to call apple support then get to talk to the enterprise team, who will then actually know what you want to do and put it in motion

Maybe a bit out of the box but have you tried seeing if anyone can get hold of the user? surley a staff member will remember them and will possibly have them on Facebook.

The user that created the account probably changed the email address associated with the Apple ID account when she/he left your school, which is why they are saying this does not exist, contacting Apple will not work here, they will not give you an activation code for an Apple ID that does not exist.

Your only option here is to backup any data on the Mac and wipe it.
