iTALC + Windows 10

Has anyone managed to get iTALC to work with Windows 10?

 

We use it here for Windows 7 and it works very well with hardly any issues. I've just noticed that my Windows 10 desktops don't connect properly in the iTALC management console. It's installed in exactly the same way. All of the settings look fine including the firewall setting we needed to make for Win7.

 

Is this software compatible with Win10 or will we need to move onto iTALC's successor, Veyon?

I think you’ll need to move onto Veyon. In my experience iTALC barely worked with Windows 7, I don’t think it’ll stand much chance with 10

iTalc works fine on Windows 10, it sometimes doesn't load the service but I had the same problem on Windows 7 and I just run a Powershell script to restart the service on the various groups of machines.

 

I've tried on a couple of occasions to migrate to Veyon but without success so I've just stuck with iTalc.

We've got iTalc 3 on a load of W10 machines (x64 W10 Edu), with no issues (apart from the console crashing every so often)it was just added onto our build image, and didn't require any special changes IIRC?

I'm getting closer to finding out the problem. It turns out that if someone logs into a Win10 after I have opened the iTALC console they won't appear and it will just say "can't connect to host". Once they are logged in, if I close down the console and reopen it, their session will appear in the console. It's as though the console can't connect to the client service unless someone is logged in.

 

Our Windows 7 PCs are fine. You can see the login screen if they aren't logged in.

 

Can anyone think of what setting change I need to make so that it will connect regardless of if a user is logged in?

I worked out what this was...a bit of a school boy error actually.

 

I was using the 32bit installer as we do for Win7 instead of deploying the 64bit client. It seems to work fine now. I'll get my coat
