For a multitude of daft reasons I won't go into I need to somehow get audio output from a laptop that is about 20m away from a phono wall socket linked to a sound system but (and here's the kicker) I can't run a cable between the two or change the location of the laptop (seriously, just don't ask). Something Bluetooth related should be my friend here but AFAIK the range is too great for that to work?

Is it even possible to do this using some form of cable free wireless magic and if so, can anyone recommend anything that would do the job?

Thanks

Andrew

Hi there,

without knowing the specifics, and it sounds like both of your arms are tied... ;) i quick google found this on Amazon...

Haven't used it myself, but the description seems to be what you need... which is line level audio from a laptop to a phono socket(s) 20m away... and theyre USB powered... no idea what the quality might be like...

We use a cheap wireless instrument link in our hall - the kind of thing you can use to hook up guitars and so forth to a sound system the same way as you would a wireless mic. I think ours cost around £30, although I can't find the details. Might be an option for you, depends on if there's any other free-to-air wireless mic equipment used in the area which would cause interference.

If 20m is too long for Bluetooth, could you shorten that distance by running a USB extension part of the distance? Not sure of the details of what you're trying to do, of course - might be that you can't run any cables anywhere, but it might be an idea.
