I was looking a while ago to see if there had been any updates since the version we've been using which was around 2005 I believe, couldn't find anything anywhere... It was good while it lasted, but isn't flexible enough now... We've gone with Room Booking System by School Cloud Systems instead - reasonably priced and works really well...

MRBS is quite straight forwards and quite easy to customise. It's what we use. (and it's open-source/free)

...Can't understand why you are using a third party room booking system. Surely (...but perhaps not) your MIS can do this....and because that "knows" about the time table - when you book a room for a group - it appears in the timetable for that group on their web portal.

Last time we looked SIMS didn't have the granularity to allow staff to book only certain rooms for themselves without giving them other rights that allowed them to do undesirable things to the timetable/rooming. Was a while ago and I really should look into it again - the transfer of the timetable into MRBS is a bit of a fudge.

 

We also use MRBS for other aspects of school life, such as assigning resources - as it works I'm not overly worried about 'fixing' it but as always if a better solution is out there it's worth a look.
