I have to admit, I thought I'd used pretty much all mainstream messengers over the years. Starting with ICQ then onto MSN Messenger and now a variety of WhatsApp and various other 'new' on the scene apps, I never used Yahoo's offering.

Still, if you are using it, I suggest you now look for something more modern to replace it - https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/06/08/yahoo_kills_messenger/

MSN and Yahoo were my biggest two, never got into ICQ. Seem to recall an app called Trillian or something similar to login to all of them under one app and go from there.

Do miss the days of MSN sat there, the little utilities to interface and change status, winamp status for music. Not a keen fan of the new Skype so tend to stick with WhatsApp and Messenger now.

I think im more surprised at this juncture that Yahoo is still going after all these years considering.

Trillian used to be great as a "uniclient" for all, aside from IRC, it wasnt too good on that as I recall.

It would make a good thread if we can get everyone to list the messaging apps they have used over the years.

If only to find out who actually did use AOL Instant Messenger :D

I used ICQ quite a lot... MSN was always my main one, but used Yahoo occasionally too... Never bothered trying AIM though, and never knew anyone that used it either... Met a previous girlfriend through ICQ in about 2004 after she'd searched for people nearby... the less said about her the better! Put me off dating for years!!

MSN via Trillian for years.

Only just got WhatsApp last month as one of my drama groups has decided it's safer than Facebook in GDPR...
