dezt Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Right, i'm after some books for the MCSE 2003, school are going to fund them and my exams so i'm onto a winner. What are the best books to use? I used Sybex for my MCSA 2000 but I have heard that Microsoft Press are quite good as well. On the plus side, i've found out that my Windows 2000 Pro exam and my ISA 2000 exam both count towards my MCSE 2003 so I only have to do 5 exams instead of 7. I'm looking at starting of with 70-290, so any advice on this exam would be helpful. Thanks dezt

Basically I would use the MS Press 70-290 book with an Exam Cram guide for backup. The main thing is to pack in as many *different* tests by Transcender and MeasureUp as you can humanly afford- they will prepare you for the exama lot more than you think Good luck! 2
ThatBoringBloke Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 I'd also recommend the ms press books. they're rather dry reading, but very good. The I personally also find that a good non exam book such as the ones from o'rilley helps me learn rather than focus on the exam objectives. the 70-290 exam is a good one to get you started on. one thing I would suggest though is once you pass an exam don't stop before going for the next one, keep the learning going. there is so much information that tends to overlap the exams that if you stop thinking about it you end up forgetting about it.
clarky2k3 Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 I would recommend watch the itidiots show. They have done shows on MCSE cram sessions. I subscribe to their podcast but you can also watch them online here. 1
bossman Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 MS press books with ExamCram2 set of revision books not that expensive for what they give back. Heavy reading but good materials on CDs, lots to take in and absorb so drink plenty of fluid hehe good luck
