talksr Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 Hi there, I am deploying Windows 10 via Microsoft Deployment Workbench. It is rolling out well and includes Office 2016,but I am noticing that both the AutoRecover and Default File locations are local paths. Is there any way in Group Policy I can change this such that it points to the user home folder N:\
nicholab Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 (edited) Yes in the latest admx template for Office 2016 you should be able to change this setting. Edited May 31, 2018 by nicholab 1

I don't seem to have these templates. I have found them online here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49030 Do you know where abouts in the central store they need to go?
nicholab Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 The easiy way to get there is \\domain.local\SYSVOL\domain.local\Policies\PolicyDefinitions contains the admx and \\domain.local\SYSVOL\domain.local\Policies\PolicyDefinitions\en-us or en-GB contains the adml. Just copy the admx and adml over you may want to back old ones before replacing. 1

maxrebo Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 (edited) Ive set this in User Configuration > Policies > Admin Templates > MS Word 2016 > Word options > Advanced > File Locations > Default File location. Could someone confirm what they have in here?, ive got (Z:\) but when i go to Save as on my test logon it defaults to "This PC" (I've redirected Documents) to the z:\ so even if they save here it save in the Home folder but I could do with it defaulting to z:\ (Z:\ is their home folder) Could anyone let me know how theirs defaults to? Arthur Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 Could someone confirm what they have in here? My default file location policy is set to 'Not Configured' since Word automatically defaults to each users redirected Documents folder when saving.

Thanks. Yes ours does to, just hoped that on the "Save as" screen in Word that it would default to the root of their homefolder instead. not sure if this is possible?
Koldov Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 Hi, I am interested in doing this, but... Can I just ask if this has to be set per Office application, or is there a 'global' setting for Office? Also, for those with redirected Documents folders, or those pointing to a 'home' drive on the server, what happens when the user is off-site? Do you need to enable some sort of file syncing?

I think there`s an option in each application, no global setting.
