Have Google released the apple 2fa that runs from Gmail yet?

Currently, in order to use 2fa 'prompt' to access Google from an iphone the user need to install the Google app. I read somewhere that at some point, the 'prompt' system would get added to the Gmail app, so iphone users only need the one app.

 

I do not have an iphone, and was wondering if this has been added yet?
