[sims] T6 Starting Fresh - 2 Week TT

Last year we moved to a 2 week timetable using Interleave. For next years TT I copied our current TT...

I was informed it would be safer to start a fresh T6 file. I have now done this and imported everything I need.

 

I have a couple of questions...

 

 

• On the Cycle I have added break and 2 additional periods (User 1 and 2) as we have done previously, but these are indicated in green rather than red (as I expect), why is this?
  
• In the Model, it displays 60!, even though there are 60 periods, I expected this not to be 60. Any ideas?

My hunch is that it's telling you that the cycle in t6 has changed and hasn't yet been exported to Sims. You have to transfer the cycle before you can transfer the TT.

 

But, be very careful about updating the cycle as it frequently causes problems in sims (or at least it used to).

 

Also from a point of ease of scheduling I would have done the timetable first then added the non teaching periods after so they don't get in the way.

When you say you 'started a new file' - did you go into your existing timetable, and then use Data | Transfer Curriculum? This allows you to copy/promote your existing structures. For example in our school I would promote Y7->Y8, Y8->Y9, Y10->Y11, Y12->Y13 and then copy Y10->Y10 and Y12->Y12. This gives me a new curriculum plan that is 80% correct in terms of form bands, block structures, timetable cycle etc and is much easier than starting from scratch completely!
