Ditto Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 (edited) Has anyone else received a call from the DfE (purportedly) asking to speak to the DPO? Sounds unlikely to me and probably a slimy marketeer! Apparent in our case they accidentally got cut off so we never found out! Edited May 14, 2018 by Ditto
jmak Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Sounds dodgy. And there are no consequences for not having one until the 25th anyway, so you could always say call back in two weeks!
Edu-IT Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Maybe they're looking for recruitment advice? https://www.civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk/csr/jobs.cgi?owner=5070000&ownertype=fair&jcode=1578360&posting_code=0&language= 1

DJ-1701 Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 Ask them for their contact details. Before I hand this information over, as per GDPR, what are you going to be doing with this data? 1
GrumbleDook Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 Before I hand this information over, as per GDPR, what are you going to be doing with this data? I don’t want them ... I’m suggesting people collect them so that they can check with DfE if they are legitimate calls ... and information would be processed as a public interest task to ensure that people are not falsely calling to gain information from schools. Let’s see if anyone is given the info.

enjay Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 Almost certainly a sales technique from a company who would like to be your DPO. I used to work for a company who sold network monitoring and management software - one of the cold-callers would phone companies and say "I'm phoning about the network bandwidth problem you're currently experiencing" or similar and when the person said "we don't have a network bandwidth problem", he'd say "ah, but can you be sure? Would you be interested in a product which could confirm this?". Personally, this would put me right off the salesman and their product!
