Theldron Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Hi all, I am now helping out at a college and they have Makerbot 3D Printer. I have installed Makerbot through admin account, but was having issues with the sign in box. Found the post regarding this with the batch file and got it sorted (Thanks @Fraserb82). I got the D&T Technician to sign in as they will be the person using it, but it just keeps coming up with the signin box. I checked the Appdata\Roaming but no Makerbot folder is being created in there for that user. I tried giving the user temp admin privileges, no go! When I run the program as me (Run as administrator and enter my credentials), it runs fine, this is I assume because it is running through my profile. Context - the college uses local profiles. I tried to move the Markerbot installation but I just get an error. Any ideas would be appreciated? Cheers
DalekSec Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Which version are you using? As they released new printing software (not an update to it's existing one) awhile ago.

PotNoodleTech Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Not maker bot but similar thing - ended up having to give the DT staff local admin privileges on just the 3dprint/laser PC and told them not to mess around. Not a big issue as they only have access to that one PC and if they break it they'll shoot themselves in the foot as they won't be doing no 3d printing! Been working fine like that for 6+months.
clareq Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Have a look at the new version 3.0 released this week. It installs to program files, not an individual profile, and offers instructions for installation via SCCM. I'm testing it today.

It installs to program files, not an individual profile, and offers instructions for installation via SCCM. I'm testing it today. It is the Makerbot V3.0 that I have installed. Though it does install to Program Files, when it is run it creates a folder with a user.config file in the appdata\roaming folder. This controls whether a user see's the sign-in box etc. It's this I am having trouble with as it is not creating the user.config file for standard users. Cheers
Fraserb82 Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 Hi sadams1980, I believe my colleague has set up our SCCM deployment for the new version of Makerbot. I will install this on my laptop tomorrow to see how it acts and then get back to you.
